Creating opportunities for all has been an important part of Carrington Coleman’s culture since its beginning. In 1976, the Firm hired now-Federal-Judge Barbara Lynn at a time when most large firms were refusing to hire women. Seven years later, Lynn became the Firm’s first female partner, and she was a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee when she left to take the bench. Today, the firm remains committed to enhancing diversity at all levels and sponsoring our team members, regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation, to greater and greater heights.
We recognize that a commitment to equity does not stop at our door, and so we are committing time and resources to building the pipeline of qualified candidates from all backgrounds into the legal profession. The Firm sponsors and participates in intern opportunities to help grow the legal community with both local high schools and colleges. The Firm also supports the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance, which strives to provide every DISD student the opportunity to participate in rigorous academic policy debate—thus inspiring and training the lawyers of tomorrow. The Firm also supports organizations aimed at providing assistance to the underrepresented and economically disadvantaged—like Community Partners of Dallas, North Texas Food Bank, Reading Partners, the Family Place, and Children’s Health—to do what we can to create more opportunities for all.
